Suggestions might include raising money for charity; improving our well-being by doing something that we enjoy; taking up a new challenge such as a marathon or a new hobby; lowering our carbon footprint; doing something outside our comfort zone; and supporting a friend or family member who needs some extra help. - Point out that sometimes, it’s the small things that we do that can make the most difference. Who knows where our small gestures could lead?
- Show Slide 8.
Read out the poem on the slide.
Autumn is round the corner.
We have so much we can achieve.
In order to do these things,
All we have to do is believe.
So hold your head up proudly:
We know that you’ll go far.
You’ll be a shining beacon,
Just being who you are.
Time for reflection
Ask the children to reflect on what they would like to achieve this year.
Encourage them to think about what they might do to help them reach their goals.
Pause to allow time for thought and then listen to a range of responses.
Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for guiding us through the year:
For the friends we have made
And the things that we have achieved.
As we move towards another year,
Please help us to try hard and seek to do well in all that we do.
Please help us to think about others during this year
So that we can all move forward together.
Amen.
