Tell the following story starting with the reindeer.
This is Rudolf.
What time of year do we normally see Rudolf?
At Christmas time.
Why do you think that Rudolf normally has a red nose?
Because it’s cold.
Now Rudolf is a big star at Christmas time and feels very important.
But have you ever given a moment to think what happens to Rudolf the rest of the year?
In fact, the rest of the year Rudolf feels very left out. He goes from being a big star to being completely ignored.
What does it feel like to be ignored?
It doesn’t feel very nice does it? It is horrible to feel left out in the cold. Well, that is how Rudolf was feeling.
Until today, that is. Rudolf’s friends decided to cheer him up.
First there is Kangaroo. He comes from a hot country so he doesn’t get a red nose from the cold. He puts one on to make Rudolf feel better.
And then there is Parrot. Parrots too live in hot countries. He has also put a red nose on.
Not to be outdone we have Camel. It is bit harder for him to balance a red nose on his nose but he has just about managed it.
Finally, coming a bit closer to home, we have Puffin. But Puffin does not need to put a red nose on. He already has one. Rudolf had forgotten that he has at least one friend who has a red nose all year round.
Now Rudolf is a much happier reindeer. He is no longer feeling lonely and ignored. All his friends are wearing red noses.
If you have a friend who is feeling left out it is good to make them feel included.
And more than that, Rudolf and his friends are doing something very important. They are all helping with Red Nose Day, which supports people who need our help in this country and all over the world.
