Secondary: What are Assemblets?
Storytellers from Aesop to Roald Dahl knew the advantages of brief tales to
capture their audience's attention and provide clear moral advice or
warnings.
Busy assembly-givers sometimes need a short, snappy story with a clear
simple moral – especially when they are pushed for time, but still want to
give their audience an effective message. That's why we have created
'Assemblets'.
Assemblets are short moral tales; sometimes funny, sometimes
thought-provoking, that should disarm the listener and make even the
briefest assembly opportunity worthwhile. They can easily be committed to
memory and so can give the assembly-giver that sense of spontaneity that is
often lacking.
Assemblets are extremely versatile and can also be used in class assemblies
or as part of a larger act of worship, where smaller readings are
appropriate.
Often students have become immune to long drawn-out assemblies, so try an
assemblet to catch their attention. Above all they should at least keep your
students keen to hear more.
